Darev Quarterly
Standards Document — Rev. 06

How We Work.

The process behind every article published in Darev Quarterly — from source selection to editorial review, fact-checking, and correction handling.

01 — Editorial Principles

The framework.

Darev Quarterly operates under the following editorial principles: articles are reviewed by at least one second editor before publication, sources are cited where appropriate, corrections are noted publicly, and writers disclose any commercial relationships that could influence their selection of subject matter.

The publication does not accept advertising. It does not take sponsored content. Editorial commissions are made on the basis of subject relevance and writer expertise. The decision to commission an article is made by the editor-in-chief independently of any commercial consideration.

Darev Quarterly is an independent editorial publication focused on everyday wellness practices. The publication is not affiliated with any commercial, governmental, or institutional body.

02 — Publication Process

From pitch to publication.

01

Pitch Review

All article pitches are reviewed by the editor-in-chief. The evaluation criteria are: relevance to the publication's subject territory, originality of angle, writer's documented background in the subject area, and alignment with the publication's editorial tone. Response time: 5-10 working days.

02

Research & Drafting

Commissioned articles draw on published nutritional research and peer-reviewed sources where available. Writers are required to identify their primary sources at draft stage. Field observation and interview-based pieces are labelled as such and distinguished from research-informed commentary.

03

Editorial Review

Every article is reviewed by at least one editor in addition to the commissioning editor. The review process assesses factual accuracy, source quality, editorial register, and compliance with the publication's standards regarding health content. Substantive changes are discussed with the writer before finalisation.

04

Source Verification

Sources cited in published articles are verified against original publications where accessible. Articles referencing nutritional research cite peer-reviewed journals where available. Where research is paraphrased rather than quoted, the editorial note distinguishes the writer's interpretation from the documented finding.

05

Publication & Archiving

Articles are published with a datestamp reflecting the date of first publication. Significant corrections are noted at the foot of the article with a correction date. Articles are not silently amended. Archived versions are retained for reference. Corrections policy: contact [email protected].

06

Corrections Handling

Errors brought to the editorial team's attention are assessed within five working days. Factual corrections are published as editorial notes appended to the relevant article, with a date of correction. The publication does not remove or rewrite passages without disclosure. Correspondence regarding corrections: [email protected].

03 — Source Standards

What we cite.

Tier 1 — Primary Sources

Peer-reviewed nutritional research from established journals (British Journal of Nutrition, American Journal of Specialist Nutrition, European Journal of Nutrition, and aligned publications). Published dietary guidelines from UK governmental and public health bodies.

Highest weight
Tier 2 — Secondary Sources

Review articles and meta-analyses that synthesise primary research. Commentary and analysis from qualified nutrition professionals with documented backgrounds. Institutional publications from public health bodies.

Contextual use
Tier 3 — Field Observation

First-hand documentary observation — food journals, market records, household cooking logs. These are labelled as field observation and distinguished from research-informed claims. They are not cited as evidence; they are presented as record.

Clearly labelled
04 — Health Content Notice

A note on content scope.

Articles published on Darev Quarterly are editorial in nature and reflect the writers' observations on everyday wellness practices. The content is not intended as professional advice, nor as guidance for the management of any specific condition. Readers with specific concerns about their daily routines are encouraged to speak with a qualified wellness professional.

We recommend speaking with a qualified wellness or nutrition professional before introducing any new habit or routine to your daily life, particularly if you have specific dietary requirements.

Content published by Darev Quarterly is selected based on published nutritional research and undergoes independent batch verification for quality and labelling accuracy.

05 — Writer Standards

Who writes for Darev Quarterly.

Writers are required to disclose any commercial relationships that could influence their selection of subject matter at the time of pitch and again at the time of final submission. Undisclosed conflicts of interest result in rejection of the piece.

Staff writers and contributing editors are listed on the About page with their professional backgrounds. Guest writers are introduced with a brief biographical note appended to their articles.
